Lake Cumberland Community Action Agency


Lake Cumberland Community Action Agency, Inc., a private, non-profit agency, is the area’s largest community-based organization. Serving the 10-county Lake Cumberland area, LCCAA operates a comprehensive array of programs to assist low-income individuals achieve greater economic self-sufficiency and improved health outcomes. Through educational, training and employment opportunities, removal of barriers to employment, coordination of private sector groups and mobilization of community resources, LCCAA seeks to improve the lives of those struggling with poverty.

Lake Cumberland Area Development District


The Lake Cumberland Area Development District is a regional planning and development agency based in Russell Springs, Kentucky. The agency serves Adair, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor and Wayne counties. LCADD staff and local officials work together in a multitude of areas, including economic development, planning and development of infrastructure projects, employment training and elderly services.

ADANTA


Adanta is a private, non-profit organization providing community-based mental health, substance abuse, developmental and intellectual disability, sexual assault resource services, as well as alcohol, tobacco and other drug prevention. Services are provided at Adanta offices located in Adair, Barren, Casey, Clinton, Cumberland, Green, McCreary, Pulaski, Russell, Taylor, Wayne and Woodford counties. The Adanta Group, a contractor with the Department of Community Based Services, provides behavioral health services with state and federal funds. It accepts Medicaid, Medicare, private insurance, and provides behavioral health services to individuals in need regardless of the ability to pay.

Operation UNITE


Unlawful Narcotics Investigations, Treatment and Education, Inc. (Operation UNITE) is a 501(c)(3) non-stock, non-profit corporation organized and operated exclusively for educational, civic, patriotic and enhancement of society purposes under the Internal Revenue Code. Operation UNITE was launched on April 7, 2003, by U.S. Congressman Harold “Hal” Rogers in response to a special report, “Prescription for Pain,” published by the Lexington Herald-Leader newspaper during January and February of 2003. This series of articles exposed the addiction and corruption associated with drug abuse in southern and eastern Kentucky, which largely included Rogers’ Fifth Congressional District.

Lake Cumberland District Health Department Comprehensive Addiction Referral Education (CARE) Program

With a mission to prevent illness and injury, promote good health practices and assure a safe environment, the Lake Cumberland District Health Department focuses on public and preventative health. It does so by offering on-site clinics, off-site programs and by engaging communities to adopt health-focused policies and initiatives. LCDHD is partnering with a consortium of area doctors, mental health facilities, and detention centers to reduce morbidity and mortality related to Opioid-Use Disorder (OUD). The Rural Health Opioid Program (RHOP) offers case management to those who live in the Lake Cumberland area at risk for OUD. Case management and referral services offered through RHOP include: substance abuse treatment, self-help and support groups, educational support, health education, mental health services, medical services for chronic conditions, parenting education, transportation assistance, housing referral, food assistance referral, health insurance and prescription assistance, and job training and placement assistance.

KY Help Statewide Call Center

Operation UNITE staffs the KY HELP Statewide Call Center, a toll-free line providing personalized, compassionate assistance and resources for Kentuckians seeking help for a substance use disorder and offering support to their families. Individuals seeking treatment for themselves or others – as well as family members who have questions or are in need of support – can call 1-8338-KYHELP (1-833-859-4357) toll-free and speak with a specialist about available services most relevant to their needs. The line is staffed Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (EDT). Individuals may also receive assistance by texting HOPE to 96714 or via email to SWCC@centertech.com. KY HELP staff provides crisis management and assists clients make informed decisions about treatment. Outreach services are available for up to one year. All calls are kept confidential.

Kentucky State Police Angel Initiative


The Angel Initiative is a program started by the Kentucky State Police in 2016 with one goal: save lives. The Angel Initiative is a pro-active approach offering an alternative escape to those battling addiction. Under this initiative, anyone battling addiction can come to any KSP post and get help finding a treatment center. No questions asked. KSP will continue to pursue and prosecute those trafficking drugs and feeding the addiction epidemic.

FindHelpNow.org is a real-time substance use disorder treatment availability locator and information center. The locator contains treatment providers and treatment openings including community mental health centers; private, non-profit, and faith-based treatment providers; and providers of medication assisted treatment. Providers are encouraged to update their treatment opportunities and facility information daily. FindHelpNow.org also contains a multidisciplinary information center to help answer questions about substance use, treatment, and recovery resources.

Casey’s Law


The mission of Casey’s Law is to educate, inform, encourage and empower those who are seeking a decisive intervention to break the cycle of addiction and save the life of a loved one. The Casey’s Law website was created for families with loved ones who, with the help of an intervention tool, can have the opportunity to recover from and survive the disease of drug and/or alcohol addiction. The website aims to provide the resources needed to get court ordered, involuntary treatment (potentially at no cost) for a loved one’s disease of drug and/or alcohol addiction.


National Resources


Health Resources and Services Administration Rural Communities Opioid Response Program


The Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) is a multi-year initiative supported by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) to address barriers to access in rural communities related to substance use disorder (SUD), including opioid use disorder (OUD). RCORP funds multi-sector consortia to enhance their ability to implement and sustain SUD/OUD prevention, treatment, and recovery services in underserved rural areas.

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration


The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is the agency within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that leads public health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. SAMHSA’s mission is to reduce the impact of substance abuse and mental illness on America’s communities.
